Participated in an amicus brief (with the Reporters Committee and other amici) filed with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in Perry v. Hollingsworth.  The case concerns access to the video recording of the 2010 Proposition 8 trial.  In April 2017, KQED moved to unseal the videotapes, but the district court said the tapes should remain sealed until August 2020.  KQED intends to oppose a renewed motion to keep the video recording under seal.  The amicus brief supports KQED.  The brief argues that public release of the video recording would serve the interests advanced by the common law and First Amendment rights of access to judicial documents and would enhance the completeness of news reports about the Prop 8 trial.  [2020]
