This virtual event will kick off at 8 p.m. on October 19, 2022. Sponsors will enjoy a gourmet three-course dinner delivered to their home with a bottle of wine and a bouquet of flowers.
AWARDEES AND FEATURED SPEAKER
Freedom of Speech Award Recipient Lester Holt is the anchor and managing editor of “NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt,” the network’s flagship broadcast, as well as the anchor of “Dateline NBC.” Mr. Holt also leads NBC News special reports, breaking news, and primetime political coverage. He has spent the past four decades in journalism, reporting and anchoring from breaking news events across the globe.
American Horizon Award Recipient Ken Burns has been making documentary films for more than 40 years. His films have won 16 Emmy Awards and two Oscar nominations. His upcoming film “The U.S. and the Holocaust” premieres in September on PBS. His decades-long collaboration with PBS has made him not only a household name but a leading figure and significant force in the public broadcasting realm. (Photo by Evan Barlow)
The evening’s Featured Speaker will be FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington, who has served in this position since 2020. Previously, he was a senior advisor at the National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA), senior corporate counsel, and an attorney in private practice.
Our Master of Ceremonies will be former FCC chairman and Media Institute Board Chairman Dick Wiley. This year’s virtual Gala promises to be an entertaining celebration of visionary industry leadership and exemplary journalism – and a signature event of Free Speech Week, Oct. 17-23. Join us!
