Participated in an amicus letter (with the Reporters Committee and 54 other amici) filed with the House Select Committee To Investigate the Jan. 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol.  The matter involves freelance photojournalist Amy Harris, who filed a complaint to block enforcement of a subpoena from the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack seeking three months of her telephone records.  The letter urges the Select Committee to withdraw the subpoena.  The letter argues that the subpoena could lead to the identification of confidential sources and chill newsgathering, and notes that such subpoenas are exceedingly rare.  The letter also highlights the fact that the U.S. Justice Department, under the July 2021 memorandum from Attorney General Merrick Garland, would be prohibited from seeking this information.  [2021]
