Arlington, Va., December 17, 2021 – Keith R. Murphy, senior vice president for government relations and regulatory counsel for ViacomCBS Inc., has been elected to the Board of Trustees of The Media Institute, it was announced today by Institute President Richard T. Kaplar.
At ViacomCBS, Murphy is responsible for public policy matters before the U.S. Congress, the White House, federal agencies, and foreign governments. In addition, he is responsible for developing strategic relationships with business and trade associations and non-governmental organizations around the world. Murphy is based in Washington, D.C.
“We’re delighted to welcome Keith Murphy to our Board of Trustees,” said Kaplar. “Keith is someone we’ve known and respected for years, and he brings a wealth of experience in the Washington public policy arena. We look forward to drawing on his expertise on a wide range of policy issues.”
Murphy joined Viacom in 2006 after serving as Counsel on Communications and Technology to U.S. Senator Gordon Smith. Prior to his work on Capitol Hill, Murphy practiced law with Perkins Coie LLP and Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP in Washington.
Murphy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and International Business from The Pennsylvania State University (1996) and a law degree from The George Washington University Law School (2000).
