Participated with the Reporters Committee and 22 other media organizations and outlets in a letter to the New York City mayor and law enforcement officials concerning the arrest of Chae Kihn, an independent photographer who was tackled by multiple NYPD officers, arrested, and charged with obstructing traffic in the lawful course of her reporting.  The letter states that based on press reports and video from the scene, it appears the arrest of Kihn violated her First Amendment rights.  The letter urges that the charges against Kihn be dismissed.  The letter includes an attachment – a letter from an earlier Reporters Committee coalition sent to the New York City mayor and law enforcement officials in June following similar incidents – laying out steps officials should take to protect reporters engaged in lawful newsgathering.  [2020]
