Ninth Circuit Urged To Proceed With Unsealing of Video Recording
Participated in an amicus brief (with the Reporters Committee and other amici) filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in Perry v. Hollingsworth. This is a case in which we participated at the district court level concerning access to the video recording of the 2010 Proposition 8 trial. The proponents appealed the district court’s order to unseal the recording and moved for a stay of the order pending appeal. Subsequently, on July 9, a federal judge denied their motion for a stay and ordered the recordings released on August 12, 2020. This amicus brief favors the unsealing plan and supports KQED’s opposition to the motion for a stay.
