Participated with the Reporters Committee and 124 other media organizations and outlets in a letter to New York City officials urging them to take immediate, concrete steps to end the police arrests and attacks on credentialed and clearly identifiable journalists that occurred during civil protests.  The letter makes the same legal arguments as a similar letter to Minnesota officials dated June 2, 2020, noting primarily that journalists covering civil unrest are protected by the First Amendment.  The letter to New York officials describes in detail six incidents where journalists were assaulted by New York City police.  The letter urges New York officials to implement protocols for the protection of journalists similar to those recommended for Minnesota.  [2020]
