Arlington, Va., June 26, 2014 – Free speech advocate J. Joshua Wheeler, Esq., has joined The Media Institute’s First Amendment Advisory Council, it was announced today by Patrick D. Maines, president of the Institute.
Mr. Wheeler is director of The Thomas Jefferson Center for the Protection of Free Expression in Charlottesville, Va. The Center is an independent nonprofit organization that promotes free speech through a variety of programs in education and the arts, and by participating in judicial and legislative matters.
Mr. Wheeler earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his Master’s degree from Hollins College. He joined the Thomas Jefferson Center in 1994.
“We are thrilled that Josh Wheeler is joining our First Amendment Advisory Council,” said Patrick Maines. “The Media Institute and The Thomas Jefferson Center have enjoyed a long and productive working relationship, and we are honored to have this First Amendment champion now serving in this capacity.”
