Arlington, Va., Jan. 29, 2014 – First Amendment attorney Greg Lukianoff has joined The Media Institute’s First Amendment Advisory Council, it was announced today by Patrick D. Maines, president of the Institute.

Mr. Lukianoff is president of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), a leading defender of First Amendment rights at America’s colleges and universities.  Mr. Lukianoff is the author of Unlearning Liberty: Campus Censorship and the End of American Debate and a co-author of FIRE’s Guide to Free Speech on Campus.  His articles have appreared in numerous newspapers, journals, and online publications, and he is a frequent guest on radio and televsion programs.

Mr. Lukianoff is a graduate of The American University and of Stanford Law School, where he focused on First Amendment and constitutional law.  He practiced law in Northern California before joining FIRE in 2001 as the organization’s first director of legal and public advocacy.
