As Commission Ponders Its Role in Future of Media

Arlington, Va., May 7, 2010 – In comments filed with the Federal Communications Commission today, The Media Institute urged the Commission to be mindful of the First Amendment as it considers ways to involve itself in the future of media.

Following is The Media Institute’s entire filing in GN Docket No. 10-25, “Examination of the Future of Media and Information Needs of Communities in a Digital Age”:

As the Commission assesses proposals to ensure the future of media in this proceeding, we urge that it keep firmly in mind the following 45 words:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
