Michelle Tinker Assumes Public Relations Duties for The Media Institute

Washington, April 7 - Michelle M. Tinker has joined The Media Institute as Director of Public Relations, it was announced today by Institute President Patrick D. Maines. Tinker is relocating from Columbus, Ohio, where she was a public affairs specialist for the Time Warner cable system in the Columbus area.
Tinker will spearhead publicity and promotion for the Institute's Cornerstone Project, a multi-year program celebrating the First Amendment. Cornerstone activities include public service announcements, publications, a national symposium, library exhibits, and school programs. Tinker will also oversee the Institute's general public relations and media relations activities. The new PR position reports directly to Maines.
"Michelle's blend of enthusiasm and professional experience is exactly what we need for the Cornerstone Project," said Maines. "I know she will do an outstanding job of helping us spread the Cornerstone message as well as heighten awareness of the Institute itself."
At Time Warner Communications Tinker was involved in community events, new product launches, traveling exhibits, media sponsorships, cross promotions, and education initiatives for a 15-county area serving more than 300,000 subscribers.
In addition to her corporate experience, Tinker brings an extensive background in government and nonprofit public relations. Prior to joining the Institute she was a public information officer for Ohio Consumers' Counsel, a state agency serving residential utility customers. Tinker also held public relations posts with Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, the American Red Cross (Toledo Chapter), and the Toledo Society for the Blind's Sight Center.
