Program/Project
Description
|
"Surfing the Net with Kids" is:
- A newspaper column syndicated by The Los Angeles Times Syndicate
- A Web site (www.surfnetkids.com)
- An electronic newsletter (www.surfnetkids.com/emailedition.htm)
- A Daily Factoid applet (www.surfnetkids.com/daily.html).
Each week "Surfing the Net with Kids" rates and reviews five cream-of-the-crop Web sites on a single topical theme. Past topics have included fireworks (for Independence Day), Shakespeare (to honor his birthday), and online Mars games (at the time of the Pathfinder explorations).
With all the well-publicized dangers of letting our kids online, the question must be asked: Why bother? Each week "Surfing the Net with Kids" answers that question: Our kids must be online because of the Internet's tremendous potential to spark the imagination and interest of inquiring young minds.
