The Parents' Guide to the Information Superhighway: Rules & Tools for Families Online: A guide that seeks to provide parents with the information and understanding necessary to help children in the new age of information technology. The guide was developed in conjunction with the National Urban League, with advisors including the American Library Association. The Children's Partnership has released The Parents' Guide to the Information Superhighway.
Convention Workshop, "The Internet ... the Good, the Bad, and What's on the PTA Site": This workshop helped parents learn what's really on the Internet, why parents are concerned, and what local units can do. It also discussed National PTA's position on technology and Internet safety. National PTA's Web site helps keep parents, educators, and community members informed.
Articles in National PTA's magazine, Our Children, "Right and Wrong Online: Teaching Your Children Ethics in Cyberspace": This article highlights what parents ought to know about the special ethical issues that have arisen with the online world of technology. "Keeping Your Child Safe Online: How To Protect Your Children From the Danger of Cyberspace": This article teaches parents how to steer their children to safe, productive, and legal time online.
Critical Viewing/Media Literacy: The National PTA is involved in a nationwide critical viewing program with the National Cable Television Association and has co-produced a number of resources to help parents deal with the impact of objectionable content on their children.

National PTA is aware that the new media are being developed without regulatory restraint and little parental and public accountability. The projects above are consistent with the National PTA Position Statement "Technology Safety":
"National PTA acknowledges the significance of advances in technology, recognizes the importance of children knowing how to use technology safely and effectively, and is concerned with issues including but not limited to content quality, commercialism, marketing exploitation, appropriate school use, accessibility and equity, safety of participants, security, and privacy."
