"GetNetWise: You're One Click Away": AT&T is a founder and co-chair of the coalition of online companies and nonprofit organizations that created GetNetWise: You're One Click Away, a comprehensive Web-based resource that is easy to find and use. GetNetWise will help ensure that parents have at their fingertips the technology tools and tips, safety referral contacts, and suggestions on quality content that they need to help kids have safe, educational, and rewarding experiences online. The central GetNetWise resource is located at www.GetNetWise.org.
In addition to funding and in-kind support for GetNetWise, AT&T is working with nonprofit organizations that are recipients of $1.42 million in grants from the AT&T Foundation to establish community technology access centers. At these centers, AT&T Cares employee volunteers will host training sessions about kids online safety -- including GetNetWise content -- with course materials developed by the AT&T Learning Network™ Program.
AT&T is also linking to the central GetNetWise resource from several of its heavily trafficked Web sites, including:
AT&T WorldNetTM Service For Kids Page
for subscribers at www.att.net/kids/explore and www.worldnet.att.net/explore/kids; for non-subscribers at www.att.net/explore/kids;
AT&T WorldNet Service Keeping Kids Safe Page
for subscribers at www.att.net/kidsafe.html and www.worldnet.att.net/kidsafe.html; for non-subscribers at www.att.net/kidsafe.html;
AT&T Learning NetworkTM Program Page at www.att.com/learningnetwork; and
AT&T Consumer Services for Home Page at www.att.com/consumer and www.att.com/home.
AT&T is also highlighting the GetNetWise launch on its AT&T Learning NetworkTM home page at www.att.com/learningnetwork, an award-winning online educational resource.

Description
|
Platform for Privacy Preferences Project (P3P): This project, conducted by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), has developed a browser-based tool for giving Internet users a clear understanding of how personal information will be used by a particular Web site, with a simple method for individuals to reach agreements that will control the transfer of data they choose to disclose.
|
Key Highlights/
Milestones
|
Online users will be able to set preferences on their Web browsers, or through other software programs. Users will be able to express their privacy preferences and agree on the rules that will control the use of their personal information. Parents will also be able to set rules that govern their children's activities online. Web site operators will be able to use the P3P language to explain their privacy practices to visitors. Once preferences and practices are easily communicated, Internet users will be able to view Web sites that respect their privacy concerns.
