Description
Available for download at the ADL Web site (www.adl.org), Anti-Defamation League HateFilter™ is a software product designed to act as a gatekeeper. It protects children by blocking access to World Wide Web sites of individuals or groups that, in the judgment of the Anti-Defamation League, advocate hatred, bigotry, or even violence toward Jews or other groups on the basis of their religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or other immutable characteristics.

HateFilter® does not seek to remove these sites, or to censor their content. Moreover, HateFilter™ doesn't just block sites. It offers users who try to access a blocked site the chance to visit a portion of the ADL Web site to learn more about hate and why it is wrong. HateFilter™ uses the filtering technology of Cyber Patrol® from the Internet Solutions Group of The Learning Company. It has all the features of Cyber Patrol including the ability to assign multiple passwords and create up to 10 user profiles to tailor usage to the needs of each member of the family. Users have access to all the other parts of Cyber Patrol including the CyberNOT list that blocks access to pornographic and other offensive Web sites.

Key Highlights/
Milestones
Released in Boston on Nov. 12, 1998, HateFilter® has received significant media attention in major newspapers and magazines nationwide.
Results Forecast HateFilter® will give an increasing number of parents the opportunity to effectively protect their children from online hate.

Description
A Parent's Primer Against Hate will be a new publication intended for distribution to parents and childcare providers across the United States. This publication will contain facts, strategies, appropriate responses and behaviors, as well as activities one could undertake directly with children. Our goal is to provide parents with a singular resource that will assist them in teaching their children to value diversity and to combat hate whenever they encounter it. Publication is anticipated for Spring 2000.
Key Highlights/
Milestones
This publication will pull together experts from a number of organizations to participate in its creation. We are exploring a variety of distribution avenues to ensure that we will be able to get this publication into the hands of as many parents as possible.
Results Forecast We expect an excellent response from parents.
