Description
"Cruise Control": Ameritech, in partnership with the National Urban League (www.nul.org), the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (www.missingkids.com), and Tech Corps (www.ustc.org), is offering a free Internet learning and safety program in Fall 1999 for families and schools in the Midwest. The "Cruise Control" program (www.ameritech.com/ education/cruisecontrol) features a beginner-friendly, interactive CD-ROM, hosted by renowned Internet learning authorities and best selling authors Jean Armour Polly (the "Net Mom") and Larry Magid (Los Angeles Times columnist); hands-on Internet training for teachers in over 40 schools; and a series of "teach-ins" for families, also hosted by Jean Armour Polly and Larry Magid.
Results Forecast
  • Up to 200,000 free CD-ROMs will be distributed in the Midwest.
  • Free teacher training to be provided in over 40 schools, with a special focus on less affluent schools.
  • Teach-ins in Midwest cities.
Results Forecast Several thousand adults and children will receive vital instruction on using the Internet beneficially and safely.
