Cornerstone Project

The Cornerstone Project is The Media Institute’s public awareness and education program celebrating the First Amendment.  The goal of the program is to give the American public a renewed appreciation of freedom of speech and of the press.  Launched in October 2000, the program has spread this message through ads, posters, essays, books, conference panels, a luncheon series, annual symposia in Washington, and other projects. The First Amendment and the Media - 2003 is released under the auspices of the Cornerstone Project.

In the planning stage is National Freedom of Speech Week, an annual event that will draw on the educational and public relations resources of Cornerstone’s Advisory Council.  The organizations on this advisory panel represent the top ranks of American electronic media, publishing, and journalism – and all are committed to the Cornerstone message, “Free Speech: The Language of America.”

For more information on the project and how to participate, contact The Media Institute or visit the Cornerstone Project on The Media Institute’s Web site at www.mediainstitute.org/ cornerstone.
