The Cornerstone Project

The Cornerstone Project is The Media Institute’s public awareness and education program celebrating the First Amendment.  The goal of the program is to give the American public a renewed appreciation of freedom of speech and of the press.  The program is reaching policymakers, journalists, and citizens with a succinct message: “Free Speech: The Language of America.”

The Cornerstone Project’s activities include books, a series of papers, public service advertisements in media trade publications, a luncheon series featuring addresses by noted First Amendment experts, and a national symposium in Washington, D.C.  The First Amendment and the Media - 2002 is released under the auspices of the Cornerstone Project.

The program was launched in October 2000 and has two advisory bodies.  The Cornerstone Project Advisory Board comprises seven financial supporters representing a wide array of media interests.  The Advisory Council includes 11 media, journalism, and free speech organizations. For more information on the project and how to participate, contact The Media Institute or check out the Cornerstone Project on The Media Institute’s Web site at www.mediainstitute.org.
